I wrote an introduction before on using press releases as a way to gain web traffic. Press releases not only give you free ingoing links from high pr web sites. They can also give you free publicity in print media.

Now here are a few practical tips to get the most out of your press release.

PRWeb is a free service for sending your press release but as all good things in life, it is not really free. To get he most out of PRWeb you need to donate about $80 (standard visibility) when you do your submission. You will then get extra services like inclusion in yahoo news, free editorial consulting and more.

Not only does the donation give you the extra services, the amount of the donation is used for sorting press releases on their web pages. Since $80 is the amount to get all the extra benefit a lot of people will donate exactly $80, add $1 and you will put yourself ahead of all these press releases.

If you think you have something really great in your press release you can go with the professional options. Remember great for the media, not just for you. If you go with the top option for maximal media visibility you get ; Guaranteed distribution through the Associated Press to top US newspapers and media outlets, Add an embedded video to your press release and analytics to show you where your news is being read

To learn more about the details take a visit to the PRWeb site. You should go with a donation it is well worth the money.

Getting your press release accepted

Just because you submit your press release to PRWeb it does not mean it will be accepted. All submitted press releases are reviewed and will be rated by an editor. Journalist that subscribe to press releases from PRWeb can decide on the quality of the press releases they get, from the top releases to everything. The higher editorial rating your press release gets the more journalists will read the release. If the press release doest not meet a minimum quality it will not even be published, regardless of how much you donate.

Press releases is just one way to get more traffic to your web page. Subscribe to my daily traffic tips newsletter to get more practical ideas to drive traffic to your web sites.

A press release is a cheap and awesome way to get traffic to your site. If your press release is successful you not only get it republished on other web sites but also in written press.

A Press release is your way to send objective news to the press.

The fact is that people working at newspapers have a hard time filling their magazine with content. Just imaging if you had to do a complete newspaper every day and come up with new ideas. Most of the content in papers is either direct reprints from press releases or rewritten press releases.

To succeed with a press release it has to be newsworthy. It also has to be of interest to the magazines readers. A good example of a something newsworthy is the release of a new software product. Something that is probably not interesting is a point upgrade to that software.

As a general guideline you should not submit a new press release about the same subject in 6 months from the first one. There are exceptions to this rule, use you’re your own judgment. You want to be remembered by magazine editors but you do not want to spam them.

Another good reason for a press release is if you launch a new site.

When you write your press release make it interesting and worth reading. Also, make sure to make it objective. If you write that you have the best something it will not be reprinted, the magazine has to be able to stand behind the text. Also, even if they could rewrite the text they probably will not, they have a whole paper to fill by the end of the day.

Write your press release in sections starting with the most important thing. Make the first section short and each following sections longer elaborating more on the subject. When someone is going to use your text they have to fit it into the page and they often have limited space. Some will print the complete press release but some with start from the beginning and cut at a random line in your text. Make sure you get your point across in the beginning of the text.

www.Prweb.com let you send your press release on the internet for a small fee. I have used them and I have also used more specialized services in my niche. Start with sending you press release though a bulk service. Then send the press releases to your local press and personal contacts.

I have had the most success with contacting local Swedish press with a personal letter asking them to reprint the release. If you are not English speaking writing in your local language to the press will give you better results. The same goes if you live in a smaller town, contact the local press, they will try to benefit local entrepreneurs. And make it personal, build a relation.

The next time you are about to release something do not forget to write a press release. If you want more practical ideas to drive web traffic you need to signup to my daily traffic tip newsletter.
